Erika Take - Perry
About
As a lifelong traveler without an anchor, my art is a reflection of my experiences and the ever-changing landscapes that have shaped my journey. I primarily work with acrylic and oil paint, drawing inspiration from the flora and fauna of each place I call home. My work captures the essence of the surrounding nature, blending a vivid palette with a sense of collage to create a visual symphony of bright colors and dynamic forms.
Being a Japanese-American, I often feel like a double-headed fish, navigating the confluence of two cultures within one body. This unique perspective deeply influences my art, allowing me to merge distinct cultural elements into cohesive pieces that express the complexity and richness of a mixed identity. Each piece I create is a testament to the feeling of being immersed in a new environment, an ode to the beauty and diversity of the natural world. Through my art, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and connection, inviting viewers to experience the world through my eyes.
